Biography:

Currently completing dissertation research in the development of a community of practice with emphasis on professional development in online theological education for a degree in Instructional Systems Design. Also working as an instructional designer in Online Education, College of Arts and Sciences. Rovina’s focus is to provide learning activities that enable students in diverse locations and situations to succeed in their goals.

Previously taught internationally in undergraduate and graduation education.  Most recently held an assistant professorship in Christian education and pastoral ministry for six years at a graduate school serving the Asia-Pacific region and located in greater Manila, Philippines. As the Director of the MA- Religious Education program, facilitated the development of several cutting-edge program concentrations including one which has evolved into a Ph.D. in Holistic Child Development, perhaps the world’s first terminal degree in this area. The target audience is religious and other NGO workers with at-risk children and youth in multiple world areas. The focus is children and youth who are trafficked, have disabilities, are child soldiers, have HIV/AIDS, or are trapped in abuses by poverty or affluence. Also taught Christian education at Korea Nazarene University, living in South Korea for eight years from 1987-1995.

Rovina has also served as the technology training coordinator at Asbury University supporting faculty and staff, has taught office systems technology in community colleges, and was a Certified Trainer with New Horizons  Computer Learning Systems.

Interests include online education, instructional design, curriculum and instruction development, interactive learning engaging experiential learning, narrative simulations, intergenerational ministry, communities of practice, worship design.
